I am a contemporary artist and printmaker from North London with particular interest in architectural and structural forms.   My focus has been in creating etchings and linocuts of common structures and buildings around London, Europe and South East Asia with a different perspective which I hope the viewer will find thought provoking.  I have been captivated and intrigued by the fluid and dynamic aspects of printmaking and have sought to pushing the process beyond the boundaries of the initial etch or image.  This has challenged me to constructed my prints using hand cut outs and paper structures exceeding the existing thresholds of the printing and framing processes.   The results are three-dimensional prints that are meant to evoke the curiosity of the observer, eliciting very individual interpretations of the piece. Looking at one of my prints, a very perceptive six-year-old once said, “It feels like you are in it!”

I have deliberately left some of my prints two-dimensional where the image radiates my feelings when I first encountered that scene and there is nothing more, I could do to communicate that sensation.  

I have also created 9 etchings of buildings in 19th century Sandakan in North Borneo from archival manuscripts and have published these in a book called Reflections of a Curious Victorian Lady in North Borneo.  The book includes a well-researched biography of Mrs Ada Blanche Pryer, guardian to June’s grandfather.  

I discovered my passion for painting and drawing, suddenly one day some 10 years ago and have not gone a single day without doing some form of art.  I am largely self-taught but have been attended University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins’ short courses and continue to attend Hampstead School of Art for the past 9 years.

I have exhibited in London, Cambridge and Bristol and have been selected to exhibit at the Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, the Society of Women Artist, the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and the Royal West of England Academy.  I am currently a member of Southbank Printmakers and exhibit permanently at their gallery in Gabriel's Wharf.

Additionally, I have sourced and researched manuscripts, bibliographies and photographs of a town called Sandakan, Sabah (formerly North Borneo) in the 19th century at the British Library and the National Archives in Kew.  I then re-created 9 etchings of historical buildings and structures which were constructed out of wood/thatch and so no longer exists in today’s Sandakan.  These etchings are used as illustrations in a book called Reflections of a Curious Victorian Lady in North Borneo which includes a well-researched biography of a Victorian lady, Mrs Ada Blanche Pryer, who was the guardian of my grandfather.
